Messy Makers – Friday Mornings 10.30-11.30 am at Hummingbird Studio. 50 euro. (no pay as you go classes available) AGES 2 YEARS- 4 YEARS

I’m so delighted to introduce Messy Makers, a new Friday morning class at Hummingbird Studio.

Every day in the studio I see the positive impact that getting creative on the floor has on both parents and children. Hummingbird Studio is a calm, warm, welcoming space where everyone takes off their shoes, sits down on the ground, and begins to explore, create, and get a little messy together. Something really lovely happens in those moments — the stress and busyness of daily life starts to soften and disappear.

Each class has a simple, gentle structure, but it is very much child-led. I intentionally leave plenty of space for play and discovery, because that’s where the real magic happens. There’s no pressure to perform or produce anything perfect. Families can simply follow their child’s curiosity and enjoy being together in the moment.

Messy and sensory play are a big part of the studio. These kinds of activities aren’t just fun — they’re deeply beneficial for children’s development. Sensory play supports brain development, creativity, emotional regulation, and confidence, while therapeutic art allows children to express themselves freely without needing words. When children explore textures, colours, and movement, they are strengthening neural connections, developing motor skills, and learning about the world through their senses.

I also love watching what happens for parents in these spaces. When adults slow down, sit on the floor, and create alongside their child, it becomes a moment of connection, co-regulation, and bonding.

In Messy Makers we’ll explore edible sensory play stations as well. Toddlers naturally explore the world through their mouths, so using safe edible materials like cereals and grains allows them to fully engage in sensory play without worry.

Building community is something I care deeply about. I want Hummingbird Studio to be a place where people feel comfortable being exactly who they are. Whether you’re a parent, a baby, a toddler, or simply someone who needs a warm and welcoming space, you are welcome here as you are.

Come along, take off your shoes, sit on the floor, and let’s make a little magic together.
