Episode 3 Making Friends with Meditation: A Gentle Guide to Your Inner Self
Welcome to Episode 3 of the Tommy & Tricia Podcast! This week, we're diving into something that’s close to both our hearts: meditation—what it is, why we do it, and how you can start making friends with your own mind.
Whether you're curious, confused, or completely new to meditation, we’re here to gently walk you through it with our own stories, practical tips, and a good helping of warmth and laughter.
🧘♂️ Why We Meditate
Tricia:
I’ve had a regular meditation practice for about 15 years. For me, meditation helps calm my mind and connect me with my spirit guides and higher self. It’s like tuning into my inner GPS for guidance.
Tommy:
Same here! I’ve been meditating for many years. It relaxes me, clears my head, and helps me connect deeply with myself and my spiritual team—my angels and guides. It’s also a key part of how I support others in my work.
👼 Who Are Spirit Guides, Anyway?
We both work a lot with our spirit guides—those loving helpers in the higher realms who give nudges, signs, and intuitive insights to help guide our path.
Tricia:
Sometimes I wake up with a word or sentence in my mind—that’s usually a message from my guides.
Tommy:
I feel mine in my solar plexus—a kind of gut feeling. It’s like a whisper from within that helps me know what’s right.
🌀 So… What Is Meditation, Really?
Tommy’s beautiful metaphor:
Imagine your mind is like a cluttered room, packed with boxes and stuff. Meditation is like gently opening the window, letting light and air in, and slowly clearing out the space. Bit by bit, breath by breath, you begin to find calm, clarity, and space.
There will always be thoughts—that’s totally normal. The goal isn’t to eliminate them, but to create space between them. It’s like giving your thoughts some room to breathe.
💬 “But I’m Not a Zen Master…”
And you don’t have to be!
Tricia:
Meditation is not about being perfectly still with a blank mind. It’s about making friends with your thoughts, learning to gently shift negative patterns, and inviting in more peace and positivity.
Think of it like building a relationship with your own mind—like getting to know a new friend.
🌱 Tips for Beginners
Start small. Even 2–5 minutes of breathing is enough.
Use your breath. It’s your anchor.
No pressure. Thoughts will come and go—just let them.
Consistency over perfection. Like watering a plant, gentle regularity works best.
🌈 The Real Gifts of Meditation
You raise your vibration. Meditation helps lift your energy and shift your mood.
You find your center. Problems start to feel smaller.
Negativity naturally falls away. You don’t have to fight it—just make space.
You awaken hidden gifts. Talents and truths you forgot about begin to re-emerge.
Life feels simpler. Your inner voice gently reminds you: Keep it simple. Be happy. That’s what matters.
